The U.S. government has made $21 Billion available to institutions of higher education, including simulation centers, in response to the coronavirus. HEERF (The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund) was known as the CARES act in 2020.
The funding can be used for:
- Technology costs to make help with remote/distance learning
- Student support to help address needs related to the coronavirus
- Additional financial aid grants to learners
- Staff training
This funding is crucial for U.S. simulation centers that have faced closures and restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic and it is a chance to grow laparoscopic simulation training due to large training backlogs.
Application for this funding is available until April 15, 2021.
