The BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) laser treatment simulation module provides a realistic, safe hands-on environment for urologists to master the essential techniques and decision-making skills required to perform transurethral HoLEP and ThuLEP procedures for BPH treatment.
Learning Objectives:
- To perform enucleation using different surgical strategies, including bi-lobar, tri-lobar, and en-bloc techniques, adapting approach to anatomical variation and gland size.
- To practice early apical release for improved control and safety during dissection near the sphincteric complex.
- To gain experience with a variety of prostate sizes (30g–100g).
- To identify and manage intraoperative complications, including bleeding control and strategies to avoid capsule perforation.
- To improve instrument handling and laser control skills, with focus on precision, safety, and procedural efficiency.
- To prepare for clinical variability, including prostate and lobe size, bleeding severity, and anatomical challenges that influence intraoperative decision-making.
Features and Benefits
- Full procedural simulation in a lifelike, anatomically accurate virtual patient environment.
- Support for HoLEP and ThuLEP techniques in a risk-free, repeatable training setting.
- Multiple optic angles to match preferred techniques and enhance intraoperative visualization.
- Enucleation assist with color-coded mapping for intuitive planning and orientation during tissue resection.
- Progress bar displaying real-time percentage of tumor enucleated for educational assistance.
- Clear View mode to enhance visual clarity and help localize active bleeding sources.
- On-screen warnings and complication alerts such as bleeding or capsule perforation for trainee guidance.
- Interactive Laser Settings Panel for hands-on adjustment and optimization of energy parameters throughout the procedure.
- Guided, step-by-step training tasks for structured, independent practice and procedural reinforcement (coming soon)
