From clipping the cystic duct to removing the gall bladder, the Cholecystectomy simulation module shows each critical step in this frequently performed laparoscopic procedure. With LapSim’s scenario and skills-based customization, instructors can introduce complications and target specific skill development.


The Appendectomy simulation module is designed to introduce residents to one of the most frequently performed surgeries in ORs. This scenario-based surgical simulation module will continually challenge trainees’ procedural knowledge and decision-making skills with extensive pathology variations and complications.

The full procedure can now be made completly by free-hand, an unguided approach to the appendix. As of the LapSim 2017 software update the Retro-Caecal Anatomy Case is also included.


In study after study, training on LapSim’s Gynecology simulation module has been proven to provide significant improvement in trainees’ skills before they enter the operating room. Simulating the critical steps of a laparoscopic hysterectomy procedure, the LapSim Hysterectomy simulation module offers a comprehensive and customizable VR training experience. 


Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) Lobectomy simulation module for LapSim was developed in collaboration with Drs. Katrine Jensen, Henrik Jessen Hansen, and René Horsleben Petersen at Department of Cardio-thoracic Surgery, Copenhagen University Hospital, Denmark.

The VATS simulation module offers training on key steps in the removal of the upper right lung lobe, utilizing a three-port anterior approach. Key training elements are dissection of the hilum/vessels, identification of the vessels, use of the elastic vessel rubber loop, sequential stapling of the veins, arteries, bronchus and fissure , bleeding control and avoid critical structures, ex. the Phrenic nerve.


With the LapSim Inguinal Hernia simulation module you are able to train on the key steps of the procedure using the Totally Extraperitoneal (TEP) approach, where the hernia sac is returned into the abdominal cavity. The key steps are identification of different structures, dissection of adhesions, relating to the critical structures, as well as mobilization and reduction of the hernia sac and fixation of the mesh with a correct use of tacks or sealant.

The anatomical landmarks included in the Inguinal Hernia simulation procedure are epigastric vessels, triangle of doom, triangle of pain, vas deferens, gonadal vessels and Cooper’s ligament. Read more here…



Building on the foundational elements of LapSim Basic Skills, the Suturing & Anastomosis simulation module challenges learners with a progressively complex, stepwise approach to suturing and knot tying techniques. Fully customizable to meet individual trainee’s skills and training needs, the Suturing & Anastomosis Module includes ten successive exercises.

Our latest addition to our accessories range for LapSim are new suturing handles, modified from Pajunk® handles to suite VR simulation training. They fit the LapSim Haptic hardware, with screw coupling for fastening of the instruments and are compatible with LapSim 2016 software or later.


The LapSim® Bariatrics simulation module features procedural deconstruction capabilities simulating various bariatric VR training tasks. Includes simulations of four training tasks: lap-band suturing, jejunal suturing, inspect and measure the bowel.


The LapSim Nephrectomy simulation module features procedural deconstruction capabilities simulating the surgical removal of the kidney. Within the Nephrectomy Module there are three VR training tasks; kidney dissection, and kidney clipping.
