Do you want to be a part of improving the lives of millions of people? As a developer at Surgical Science and the HelpMeSee-project – you will!

Surgical Science is a leading supplier of simulation software for medical training. Our training systems are used by medical training centers and institutes worldwide for practice, validation, and certification of students, surgeons, and medical doctors.

As a partner in the HelpMeSee-project, Surgical Science collaborates with partner companies and organizations from around the world in developing a state-of-the-art VR simulator and training program to train surgeons world-wide on this very complex intervention to effectively treat cataract blindness. Without the right treatment, cataracts cause a significant decrease in vision and approximately 20 million people worldwide are blind due to cataracts.

There is now an opportunity to join a highly engaged and diverse development team and surgeons in helping HelpMeSee reach the next level!

In this role, you will develop new features for our simulation software in close collaboration with our partners. Even though the project is highly internationalized (partners in France, India, the Netherlands, Canada, and the US), it is also highly integrated, and the role involves meetings with our partners and clients. We also meet surgeons on a weekly basis in remote feedback sessions to ensure the accuracy of the simulator as well as discussing new features to be added.

You will work closely with a team of dedicated developers located in Germany, Scotland, and Sweden.

To succeed in this role, we believe that you have a big interest in technology, have experience from working with agile work methods and are a great communicator. Additionally, we think that you have:

  • 1-2 years of experience with C++ programming
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Extensive English skills.

It is an advantage if you have experience with OpenGL/GLSL, Python, graphics, and Visual Studio.
